Making Things Work
When Offenberger & White, Inc. and Salter & Associates joined forces to form OffWhite Salter, we combined the experience of two firms, bringing more than 50 years of experience to bear on our client relationships. OffWhite, established in 1985, and Salter & Associates a year later.
We don't base client relationships on company size, marketing budget or location. What we do strive for is compatibility with our clients who are investing precious capital in the value we can bring to their companies.
Criteria for Success
Our experience has set forth a defined a criteria that forms the decision path for considerations of basic compatibility. We encourage our clients to visit this list often to confirm that we are adding to an ideal, mutually beneficial business relationship.
The Best Client
Your product or service must offer genuine value. No marketing firm can be successful in creating demand for obsolescence, inefficiency or incompetence, including our own.
Integrated marketing communications must be crucial to your company's success. You must believe in - and want - the very best, most cost effective marketing we can offer. We want to be in the business of inventing tomorrow, not repairing yesterday.
You must need us. We are capable of creating opportunities and developing solutions for your marketing challenges. This is the precept for a mutually beneficial relationship.
Your top management must hire us. Interest in marketing communications programs begins at the top, and we need to work with the LOWEST RANKING person who has APPROVAL AUTHORITY
Your executive management must be willing to meet with us at least quarterly to coordinate other company activities with the marketing communications program.
Your management team must be willing to set specific, attainable marketing objectives and be willing to measure the results.
As we work day-to-day with whomever is authorized to make decisions and grant approvals on behalf of your company, we will remain wired to the top.
We are always a partner, never a vendor.
We want you to share information necessary for us to plan and execute a marketing plan that makes sense. One of our strengths is our ability to get up the learning curve in a hurry. Yet honest ignorance is many times better than simulated understanding. That's why we cannot work in a vacuum. We promise - if we don't know, we'll ask. If you don't know, we'll work together to find the answer.
You must value our time, our ideas and our intellectual property as we do. We measure our professional lives and our work in billable hours charged to projects authorized by you. It's our job to say what we think and tell you what we believe.
We want your company to grow profitably. We appreciate the fact that your budget is an alternative use of limited resources...money. We expect you to improve products or services, and create new ones. We want to work for companies like yours who are looking forward, with people like you who view their marketing and advertising programs as investments instead of expenses.
We respect your customers. They are smart enough to ignore or reject incompetent, misleading or dishonest marketing, literature or advertising programs. The more they know about the value and benefits of your product or service, the more money you will make.
We can't please a committee. It's risky to trespass on the professional skill you have hired us to deliver. We expect to get many ideas by working closely with you and your management team. For our mutual benefit you must have a minimum of people, preferably one, with ultimate approval authority.
We work best with professionals. The best clients are people like you who have both the responsibility and the authority to go with it. When your management puts marketing, advertising, or product managers of stature in contact with us, it is easier to make decisions within the framework of job descriptions and the marketing plans.
We want paid on time. Your company must be willing to pay us for the work you authorize us to do on their behalf. Your company must have a high credit rating and be willing to pay invoices within thirty days.
Your policies and people must be compatible with ours; ours with yours.
As a trusted advisor once said, "Life is too short to travel with inhospitable companions. Find the people who need you, who value you, who share your values, and work as hard as you can to make them as happy and successful as you can. And don't worry about who gets the credit."
At OffWhite Salter, that's our recipe for success.
